An abattoir handling large volumes of poultry was receiving numbers of complaints from the local area because of smells from blood and animal carcases.
The operator had tried to reduce this by reducing the extraction from the process, but this had created extremely bad, even hazardous, conditions within the factory with excessive heat and steam.
Increased Extraction with Odour control was urgently required.
“Exeon installed an Odour Control ventilation system handling 26,000m3/hr to give over 12 air changes per hour within the processing plant, and fitted this with 3-stage filtration incorporating mesh mist elimination, bag filters and activated carbon filter beds.
The system had an auto-bypass for the filter unit for cleaning operation to increase airflow to boost and temporarily bypass the filter unit to avoid unnecessary use of carbon during this less odorous process.
The result was very effective with vastly improved conditions inside and externally.”
