RECIRCULATING FUME EXTRACTION ARMS AT SOMERSET HOUSE
Exeon were asked to quote for a flexible extraction system for Painting process at Somerset house. To externally discharge was going to be very expensive and a long-winded process because it is a listed building.
Currently the extraction system does discharge to outside but the extraction is both insufficient and bad in design and as a consequence, independent LEV auditors condemned it as unsafe to use.
Due to the fact that the process involves painting, noise control was also a key requirement.
The extraction required is point-of-use where the personnel are painting. Extraction arms therefore were installed to allow the personnel to paint at the eaves without being exposed to unpleasant chemicals.
Exeon installed Three Bespoke speed controlled recirculating Extraction Systems complete with speed-adjustable fans, particulate filtration and Activated carbon filtration, allowing internal discharge.
The Extraction systems were each ducted to 5 extraction arms, providing local extraction at each of the eaves.
The unit was far quieter than the existing system, and more importantly is fully compliant with LEV legislation.
