DUST EXTRACTION AT FOOD FACTORY
Issue
A food factory handling very fine dust from food flavourings had an existing Dust Extraction system, but the filters were cartridge-type which was not compatible with the food dust. As a result they were constantly blocked, which meant the filter costs were high.
There was also several sack-tipping areas not covered by the existing Extraction system so there were dust contamination issues with dangerously high levels of airborne dust. Operators were forced to wear air-fed face masks to protect them, for up to 8 hours a day.
Solution
An OX Type Extractor, with Bag-type filters, was installed. The Bag-type filters work better with sticky dusts and are able to release the product better, therefore the life is very significantly improved.
Nellie type extraction arms were provided at various sack-tipping locations to improve the Dust Control at local Extraction points. The Arms provided flexible extraction for the varying types of sacks being filled.
To prevent negative pressure and reduce heat loss on the building, the Dust Extraction system was discharged via a HEPA filter back into the building, providing energy savings.
