INDUSTRIAL PARTICLE EXTRACTION FROM STEELWORKS
Issue
A smelting process at a steelworks was creating excessive particle levels both internally and externally.
This was requiring RPE for anyone working internally, and environmental issues due to dust plumes escaping into the atmosphere.
Solution
A dust extraction system was designed to use the roof vents to provide capture and create an internal negative pressure.
External openings in the building had an average flow of 0.5m/s. This was extracted by the means of a large EXEON CF cartridge extractor providing
76,000m3/hour of extraction.
This installation was highly successful, providing the following benefits to the customer:
- Removal of a large proportion of airborne contaminants.
- Removal of the environmental hazard of dust escaping from the building, as the building is under negative pressure.
- Provision of ventilation from incoming fresh air, therefore lowering temperatures and improving working conditions.
