BACK TO OUR PROJECTS Odour Control Biofilters for Anaerobic Digestion Facilities Issue – Project Brief Exeon were asked to provide a solution for D&F (formerly Biopower) for emission control from their Buffer Tanks. Previously the throughput of contaminant was far too high for the Carbon filter banks, and the carbon exchange rate was too frequent, causing significant running costs. The scrubber system was also not operating correctly or removing the necessary chemicals, causing carbon to be consumed within 2-3 weeks. This was also having a corrosive effect on the rest of the background extract system and carbon consumption on this system too. Project Solution Exeon designed & installed a airo-floTM Compact Biofilter for the application, designed to remove 95% of the contaminant. Exeon utilised the existing carbon filter to provide a secondary filter for the Biofilter. The system was installed over a 4-day shutdown period with bypass filtration used for environmental compliance. The Biofilter is now happily running and removing 95% of contaminant throughput, allowing a huge cost saving on expensive media changes.
