EMISSION CONTROL – PLASTICS RECYCLING FACILITY
Issue
Exeon were asked to provide a solution for Emission reduction and air quality improvement at Enva, Bourne.
There are a number of discharges from the plastic recycling process, including the vacuum vents, extruder, the filter etc. The discharge was an oily / sticky fume.
Air quality readings were taken, highlighting a number of contaminants which were unacceptably high.
A certain discharge was very high in both styrene and moisture so required additional control.
Solution
Exeon supplied and installed a number of Extract receiving hoods above each of the processes to control the discharges.
The duct system was provided in clip-together to allow for ease of future cleaning.
Extract filters were installed to control the fumes and prevent fan damage.
On the discharge with high levels of moisture and styrene, additional control measures were installed. Dehumidification was installed to control the moisture levels, and a Nodour mid-flo™ system was installed to control the Styrene discharges.
After the installation, the air quality was improved by approximately 90%.
