Atkins Realis – Odour & VOC abatement
Issue
Atkins Realis required an odour and VOC abatement solution for a new build project, primarily addressing emissions from a furnace extract operating 24/7.
The application included managing high temperatures and moisture content, which had to be factored into the abatement system design.
Stringent specification requirements and a constrained footprint necessitated close collaboration with multiple trades to integrate the necessary plant within the available space.
The Solution
- Exeon designed and supplied a bespoke abatement system, combining high-performance carbon filtration with caustic scrubbing technology to effectively remove contaminants and moisture.
- The carbon adsorber was a steel structure, complete with access doors, dust prefiltration modules and a layered horizontal carbon bed for maximum adsorption against a flow of 4,400m³/hr
- Corrosion-resistant stainless steel ducting was installed to ensure durability, while extended duct runs facilitated heat reduction in the air stream.
- Exeon successfully met all abatement targets, delivering a compliant and efficient solution.
