Odour control System for an Anaerobic Digestion Plant
Issue
Exeon were asked to provide an Odour control System for an Anaerobic Digestion Plant in Kettering.
The existing system at Fernbrook placed the building under positive pressure and as a result, there were a number of odour complaints.
An odour control system was required to put the building under negative pressure, and have the capacity for the now completed expansion of the plant.
Controls were required to allow for remote engineering support.
The system was required to control odour levels to 1,000ouE/m3 at dispersal.
Solution
Exeon successfully supplied and installed a Hi-flo™ extraction system to ensure the building is under negative pressure, and providing three air changes to improve the air quality.
Dust control was incorporated to prevent any airborne dust from blocking the carbon media.
The Hi-flo™ system was installed with additional future capacity for the additional buildings.
A dedicated bio-filter was also installed prior to the carbon adsorber specially to remove particularly high concentration of contaminant emanating for the pasteurisation and storage tanks on site.
Tests proved the system met the required 1000ouE/m3 discharge thresholds for odour.
