Waste Transfer Station Odour Control
Issue
A black bag waste handling site in Leeds had a number of odour complaints and the EA set a stringent 1000ouE/m3 odour level on dispersal and advised an odour abatement system be installed.
Exeon were confident of achieving this with an extraction rate of 250,000m3/hr combined from two separate deep bed carbon filters. A 1.5s contact time against the carbon media provided this.
There is also the option to easily add layers to the horizontal beds to increase the contact time and extend the lifespan, as necessary.
Solution
Exeon proposed and installed a horizontal deep bed carbon abatement system with dust prefiltration, including the full ducting and extraction system. The cleaned air stream was dispersed to atmosphere via a stand-alone stack as part of the package.
