Warning:  NEW CANCER ALERT FOR WELDERS

The HSE has issued a warning in the UK that there is fresh scientific evidence that exposure to welding fumes, including mild steel welding fume, which can cause lung cancer, and kidney cancer.

This is no scaremongering or fake news flash but a Government department warning following results of research by the International Research for Research on Cancer.

Mild steel welding is also considered to be linked to “neurological effects similar to Parkinson’s disease”.

Amongst the protections advised for welders is Local Exhaust Ventilation (LEV) and Exeon can offer a large range of fixed and portable equipment for welding fumes

The HSE regulations state:
All businesses undertaking welding activities should ensure effective engineering controls are provided and correctly used to control fume arising from those welding activities. With immediate effect, there is a strengthening of HSE’s enforcement expectation for all welding fume, including mild steel welding; because general ventilation does not achieve the necessary control.

EXEON’s range of equipment includes:

NELLIETM extraction arms
TIGERTM fans
ROVERTM mobile extraction/filtering units
SCORPIONTM extraction workbenches

This equipment may be purchased for you to install or we can provide a full design and installation service.

We can also offer a demo of the equipment from our demo van.
